Athletics Ambassadors Program
|
The Athletics Ambassadors Program is an athlete-led program led by the Sexual Violence Prevention Initiative (SVPC) in partnership with the Scott McCain & Leslie McLean Centre for Sport, Business and Health at SMU. The program aims to elevate athlete wellbeing by empowering student-athletes with the skills and experience they need to foster supportive, inclusive, and safe sport environments within their own teams. |

Although the program began as a focused effort to prevent sexual violence and educate athletes on bystander intervention, it has grown into a well-rounded community engagement initiative. After all, having a connected, engaged, and healthy community is a violence prevention strategy in and of itself. From sharing their personal experiences with injury and mental toughness to discussions on coaching the next generation of athletes, the Ambassadors program supports student-athlete health and wellbeing in ways that traditional institutional support systems can't. Stay tuned to our channels as we continue to work with SMU Student Life, our athletes, and our partners at other institutions on the next evolution of a trailblazing program. |
