Humanities Media Lab

The third floor of the Sobeys Inspiration Hub includes a flexible workspace designed for students in the É«»¨Ìà of Arts. The Humanities Media Lab (SH 323) inspires creative work, including audio and video production, web development, songwriting, spoken-word and performance projects, oral history documentation, digital archiving, acoustic analysis, bookmaking, and much more.

This multimedia facility offers:

  • ergonomic seating for up to 20 people
  • a dozen computer stations with speakers and headphones
  • moveable modular tables for group projects
  • a wall-mounted screen for viewings and presentations
  • a Whisper Room sound/mixing studio
  • lockable storage cabinets for equipment and projects in progress.

The Humanities Media Lab can be adapted for a variety of teaching, research, group work and community outreach projects. Equipment also includes audio and video recording and editing equipment and software, specialized lighting, bookbinding gear and a full-colour laser printer and archival scanner.

Please note that faculty/classroom requests are the lab’s priority. É«»¨Ìà members can also request bookings for student projects, but the faculty member is responsible for the space.
